Sweet on Small Business

With Valentine’s Day approaching I couldn’t help but read a newsletter from the Small Business Administration entitled,  “Ten Reasons Why SBA is Sweet on Small Business.” They have some pretty cool reasons including;

-Small businesses comprise 98% of America’s exporters (I’ll bet that surprised some of you).

-Home based businesses account for 52% of all small businesses (I would love to work at home in my jeans).

-With approximately 28 million small businesses in the United States, employing 60 million Americans, small businesses employ half of the private sector workforce (that’s a big number).

Small businesses and their owners are:

1. Passionate about what they do
2. Creating great, fun places to work where employees grow personally and professionally
3. Appreciative of their customers and supporters… and don’t take them for granted
4. Always innovating, trying to provide the best products and services at reasonable costs
5. Tremendous contributors to the communities where they live and work

My list is a little bit shorter than the SBA’s list of reasons, but I think it is still pretty powerful. Happy Valentine’s Day.
